Have you ever struggled to make content that’s really interesting for your audience?
Here’s one technique you may want to consider; Combined Relevance involves taking something that your audience may be interested in, such as the Premier League, and combining that with your product or service which you want to talk about. For example your brand new range of ball bearings.
Let’s say that the most popular TV show at the time is The X Factor and 10 million people are watching it. By definition, some of your customers probably sit at home on a Saturday night watching that TV show. So if you can take the X Factor and make it relevant and combine them with what you do – automatically it becomes more interesting.
So let’s say you are launching a new marketing service. A title:- ‘What the X-Factor can teach you about Marketing’ will automatically get people clicking. Large sporting events can often lead to opportunities. For example; I worked with a car finance company who, when Germany were playing France in the European Championships, we used the manufactures of cars, such as Mercedes and Peugeot to predict who might win the game. Suddenly – Believe it or not – Car Finance just got a little more interesting.
Combined relevance is a useful tool to have in your content armoury.
And the title, ‘What the Premier League can teach you about content creation’ Well, it’s combined relevance.
